Art Director (intermediate and above)

Position

Making brands mean something.

About us:

We work for the creative gods.

Our studio is composed of people united by one idea – if we’re going to put work out into the world it better mean something – it better be funny, moving, insightful, witty or beautiful. Because for us, design and advertising aren’t inert. They are deeply powerful forces that help us understand our world, but also to shape it. It’s lofty rhetoric we fall short of multiple times a day, but our team agrees, failing at this is better than succeeding at anything else. And we guess it’s an idea that’s resonated with some other people, because we’re a fast-growing little shop, and right now we’re on fire. We want to invite someone to come be part of this place, someone inspired by our mission who feels compelled to be a part of it.

About the gig:

We’re looking for an Art Director who’s been working at creatively-focused shops for a while. At the risk of stating the obvious, you’re an Adobe master, you’ve eaten many a meal from craft services, you’ve hung out with more photographers than you can remember, and you know motion is the future. You should have big brand experience, some brass on the trophy shelf and the deep-seated knowledge that your best work is still in front of you. But what we care most about is your vision — how you see the world, where you draw inspiration from; you are in the truest sense of the word, a creative. You do this work because, like us, you couldn’t survive without it.

Qualifications:

  • 3–10+ years experience in an Art Direction role
  • Created and/or contributed to award-winning campaigns, branding and digital experiences
  • A skilled storyteller, conceptor and multidisciplinary thinker who is eager to roll up their sleeves and work their craft through production as well
  • Communicator who is comfortable presenting ideas both internally and with clients
  • Track record of building strong relationships within a creative studio where respect flows both ways
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and responsibilities
  • Fearless and relentless when it comes to the work, but empathetic when it comes to people

Daughter is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be reviewed, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted. This is a position based in Calgary, Alberta but we are open to applicants who want to relocate. You must have a valid Canadian work permit.
